Continuing our series on Famous Tax Quotes (quotes from court opinions and rulings with language that is colorful or that concisely states an important tax principle) today's tax quote is from a case that held an FBAR penalty survived the death of the party on whom the penalty was imposed:
Death may be an avenue of escape from many of the woes of life, but it is no escape from taxes.
U.S. v. Wolin, 126 AFTR 2d 2020-6348 (DC NY) (quoting Kahr v. Commr., 414 F.2d 621, 626 (2d Cir. 1969).
